History of Alegent NPG Health Link and Premier
Alegent NPG Health Link was formed in 1995 as a result of a merger between Nebraska Purchasing Group and Immanuel Medical Center. At that time Immanuel Medical Center was a shareholder in America Healthcare Systems (AmHS). A short time later, AmHS merged with SunHealth and Premier to form the new Premier. In the same time frame, Alegent Health was created from a merger of Immanuel Medical Center, Archbishop Bergan Mercy Medical Center and Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, IA, and is now a shareholder in Premier.
Premier Purchasing Partners has grown into the largest healthcare group purchasing organization in the country, representing a joint venture of approximately 210 independent not-for-profit health systems in 50 states. Collectively, their systems operate or are affiliated with about 1,800 hospitals and other healthcare sites across the nation. Premier offers a comprehensive array of services and products through its companies and business units:
